DIY cat ears

Yes, I'm aware it's only July, but I am so ready for fall! It is my favorite season! Today I was making Laila this adorable little tulle flower for a headband when I got a great idea, tulle cat ears!
( find the flower tutorial here http://lilnefie.blogspot.com/2010/05/tulle-flowers-tutorial.html)
Ok, originally I actually thought of making Minnie mouse ears to go with the red polka dot bow I had just made, but then I thought of the cat ears. To me a black cat is one of the main symbols of Halloween these ears are so easy to make.
I started off by cutting 2, six inch squares of black tulle. I use Celebration rolls of tulle which are 6 in wide which is why I picked that thickness. If you are using a different kind of tulle just cut a 6x6 square.
I then folded the square into a triangle by taking the bottom left corner and folding it to the upper right.
I then repeated this again by folding left to right to form a smaller triangle

Now that I had the correct size triangle I cut them into indivual triangles by cutting where the fold was, although I don't really think that is necessary. They are all going to stay together to give it the thickness so the ears will show up!
Next I cut 3 strips of ribbon to go along the sides of the triangles.
I pinned the ribbon on when I was sewing so I only had one loose ribbon to worry about at a time. Also make sure you pin your triangles together so they aren't slipping around while you try to sew! I accidentally skipped this step on my first ribbon.
I sewed the bottom ribbon first, then left then finished on the right side. Once you are almost to the edge of the first ribbon, place the next ribbon on top so you can so them together and then repeat when you get to the 3rd ribbon. Cut any loose tulle that may be hanging over the edge. Now youre ready to do all this over again on the next ear! Yay :)
voila! My 2 black cat ears. After that I simply hot glued them onto a black headband, or whatever you want to use to put them in your hair and this it! Happy Halloween!! Too soon?
